Pat Williams

Sean Jensen of the Pioneer Press reports on Viking DT Pat Williams, who is signing an extension with the Vikings.

Williams has been the best player on the team in each of the past two seasons. I never thought it could be so much fun to watch a run-stopping defensive tackle. Williams is such a destructive force, constantly penetrating opposing offensive lines and altering the play. He's not just a giant man clogging a hole; he's got an incredible burst that allows him to push through the line of scrimmage and ruin plays.

He's already one of my favorite all-time Vikings, just from his performance the past two seasons. I'm glad he'll be staying with the team beyond this season.

  1. is dt the new position where older players can stay successful? it makes sense i suppose. the logic before was that the weight destroyed the knees but conditioning must've improved since the first massive run stuffers.
